Newquay's best breakfast spots

Up to chase waves, clock coast path miles or just craving a caffeine kick? Newquay delivers at breakfast time – big time. Here’s where to breakfast, your way.

Breakfast. The fire behind every trail-blazing kind of day. Whether you’re up to catch the tides, beat the crowds or max out on beach life, here’s where to fuel up.

At SeaSpace, you’re in prime position: roll downstairs for flaky pastries, stroll to the sand for beachside brews, or stretch your legs to find surf cafés serving global flavours – think poke bowls, eggs Shakshuka-style and organic brews with a view. Here’s where to breakfast, your way.

Roo's Beach

Porth Beach, Newquay

Five minutes down the hill from SeaSpace, you’ll find Roo's Beach Coffee Hut – where the locally-roasted brew is as smooth as the vibe. Grab coffee and cake at the hatch and settle in amid tropical plants, or kick off your shoes on the sandy runway of Porth Beach. The choice is yours. But don’t rush off – step inside for a dose of early retail therapy at Roo’s lifestyle emporium and set your morning off with some new threads to boot.

Pavilion Bakery

Fore Street, Newquay

Walk, e-bike or drive into Newquay proper, and you’ll be spoilt for choice for breakfast by the sea. Pavilion Bakery – a former lifeboat house – is the place for a coffee fix, slow-fermented breads and Sri Lankan-inspired treats. So, what’ll it be? A turmeric bun drizzled with wild Cornish honey, house chai or Sri Lankan dahl? Eat in or wander down to the harbour –  but don’t leave without a loaf of their famous sourdough.

Basket

Tower Road, Newquay

What began as one girl delivering homemade cakes around Newquay by bike is now one of the best breakfast stops in town. It’s not the most scenic location, so stock up on cooked-from-scratch goodies – famous carrot and banana cake, signature granola, cheesecake croissants and plant-based specials – then head to Fistral or Pentire for a breakfast picnic. Don’t forget to fill your reusable coffee cup with Monmouth brew to kickstart your day.

From dragon fruit bircher, to espresso-buttered cinnamon French toast, you’ll be well set up for the beach.

Sea Spray

South Fistral, Newquay

You can’t get closer to the waves than this cliff-edge café. Smashed avo comes with feta, pomegranate, and walnuts; blueberry and bacon pancakes are a two person job – unless you’ve earned your appetite in the surf. Big portions, relaxed vibes and a front-row view of Fistral. And if you’re late from a lie-in, no sweat – it’s an all-day brunch.

Lewinnick Lodge

Pentire Head, Newquay

Earn your breakfast with a wind-in-your-hair walk or bike ride along the coast to this former lobster hold turned cliffside gastropub. It’s a couple of hours hike so if you’re on foot, set off early – breakfast finishes at 11. However you get here, the views are as legendary as the food: look out for dolphins as you tuck into a full Cornish, fluffy pancakes, or eggs every which way.
